Geospatial indicators for disaster risk management (PhD position)
A través de riada (lista de distribución de RedIris) nos ha llegado información de dos nuevas vacantes en el Centre of Geoinformatics de la Universidad de Salzburgo (Austria). El Z_GIS Centre of Geoinformatics busca personas para relizar sus Tésis Doctorales en temas relacionados los riesgos naturales y en la observación de la Tierra para estudios energéticos, estas personas se incorporará en marzo de 2009 y se encargará (bajo la tutela del coordinador del proyecto) de las funciones típicas en estos casos: contribución directa sobre el proyecto, participación en reuniones y talleres, además de trabajar directamente en su Tésis.

*** Geospatial indicators for disaster riskmanagement (PhD position)
The announced PhD position (30 hours/week) is available from March 2009 (as soon as possible) for 2.5 years, with anoption for further extension and contract renewal in October 2011.
Responsibilities: Under the overall guidance of the research coordinator at Z_GIS, and the direct supervision of the project coordinator, the successful applicant will function as a project collaborator (researcher)and will perform the following functions:
· contributes to the preparation andprovision of project deliverables;
· participates in workshops and meetings;
· tracks schedules of tasks;
· develops an own research plan for the PhD thesis, in line with envisaged achievements of project- or organizational objectives.
*** Earth observation for energy studies(Post-Doc position)
The announced PostDoc position (40 hours / week) is available from May 2009 for 3 years, with an option for furtherextension and contract renewal in June 2012.
Responsibilities: Under the overall guidance of the research coordinator at Z_GIS, the successful applicant will function as a projectcoordinator (senior researcher) and will perform the following functions:
· acts as a contact person for energy relatedresearch;
· prepares operational plans and delegationof work tasks;
· contributes to the preparation andprovision of project deliverables;
· organizes workshops and meetings;
· tracks schedules of tasks;
· develops an own research plan contributingto the achievement of project- and organizational objectives.
